Military structure commissioned by the Medici located in the heart of Florence. It was built to house troops of soldiers or give shelter to the rulers in case of insurrection. It also served as a symbol of power, as it instilled fear with its powerful walls. Currently the military structure serves as a fair and exhibition centre, being one of the most important in the city.
